GINGER (Zingiber Officinale)
Z. officinale, also known as ginger “root”, is the edible and
culinary ginger commonly used in Asian cooking. Ginger is
rich in volatile oils, such as zingiberene, and pungent
compounds like gingerol. It contains more than 400 essentials
component such as ascorbic acid, caffeic acid, traces of
capsaicin, beta-sitosterol, beta carotene, curcumin, lecithin,
limonene, selenium and tryptophan. Studies show when used
medicinally ginger may help with occasional nausea and
digestive disturbances by supporting the normal production
of digestive secretions, may reduce subjective symptoms
related to mild menstrual cramping and may support
healthy blood circulation and perspiration. Ginger has
antioxidant activity, can support healthy immune function
and encourages the resolution of normal inflammation
associated with exertion.
